SDCA interview series – Focus on SIEMENS

Siemens is driving the development of sustainable data center infrastructure.

With our interview series, the SDCA puts its members in the spotlight. The goal is to highlight the expertise, experiences, and perspectives within the network and to further strengthen professional exchange within the data center community.

In this edition, Siemens Switzerland AG is in the spotlight.

In the interview, Tobias Spilker, Data Center Vertical Market Manager Switzerland at Siemens, discusses the challenges and opportunities for data centers, and how integrated infrastructure and automation solutions contribute to greater efficiency, sustainability, and supply security.

Rising energy prices, AI, and supply security requirements present major challenges for the data center industry. Siemens supports operators as an integrated partner, from planning through to operation, with comprehensive infrastructure and automation solutions.

The focus is on energy-efficient systems such as intelligent energy management, building automation, and AI-supported cooling. The offering is complemented by solutions such as photovoltaics and battery storage.

At the same time, the AI boom is fundamentally changing the requirements for data centers. New technologies, rising investments, and uncertain business models demand flexible and scalable solutions.

For Switzerland, Siemens sees opportunities in faster approval processes and better utilization of waste heat. However, grid bottlenecks and high energy prices remain challenges.
