SDCA at the Federal Palace

Engaging in Dialogue to Strengthen Switzerland as a Digital Hub

Switzerland’s digital transformation is advancing across all sectors of the economy, public administration, and society. To ensure that digital services function reliably, innovation flourishes, and businesses remain competitive, we need a high-performance, secure, and future-oriented digital infrastructure. Data centers play a central role in this. They are far more than just technical facilities—they form the foundation for digital sovereignty, data security, economic value creation, and the resilience of our country.

Against this backdrop, SDCA representatives Roger Süess, Yves Zischek, and Martin Zust visited the Federal Palace in Bern this week. During numerous discussions with representatives from politics and government, the focus was on current challenges and future issues surrounding Switzerland as a digital hub.

The discussions were open, critical, and at the same time constructive. Topics such as digital sovereignty, energy supply, the attractiveness of the location, regulatory frameworks, and the importance of modern data center infrastructure for the Swiss economy were discussed in depth. The direct exchange made it possible to better understand different perspectives and identify common approaches to solutions.

As the Swiss Datacenter Association (SDCA), we see it as our responsibility to provide fact-based information on the importance of digital infrastructure, actively promote dialogue between business, politics, and government, and constructively advocate for the interests of Switzerland as a digital hub. Our goal is to work together to create sustainable framework conditions so that Switzerland remains one of Europe’s leading digital innovation hubs in the future.

Special thanks go to our Political Advisory Board, comprising Franz Grüter, Thierry Burkart, Dominik Blunschy, and Martin Bäumle. The engaged discussions, critical questions, and valuable insights from diverse political perspectives make an important contribution to the work of the SDCA. This cross-party exchange helps identify opportunities and challenges at an early stage and jointly develop solutions that ensure the long-term success of Switzerland as a digital hub.

The SDCA will continue to actively engage in dialogue with politics, business, and government agencies and will work to ensure that Switzerland has the necessary conditions to successfully shape the digital future.
